Alternative Rock Music – Difference in Regions

The word “Alternative” has a very dark meaning: replace, different, not follow the old way. Then funk, rap, heavy metal, new wave genres… are all Alternative. How do we differentiate? This articles give you some point of views about this type of music- Alternative Rock Music
Alternative Rock is the name given to the post-punk movement that began when the new wave began to swell in 1983-1984 and became the most devastating in 1995. The main distinguishing feature of the Alternative was the resurgence of the calendar. It’s easy to understand that it includes a lot of tendencies: a new wave, a little pink, a little heavy metal …. Alternative is accepted in the United States and America, although each territory has some differences, it is also very happy because funk metal of Red Hot Chill Pepper can live in England now!

American Alternative
The music in the United States is based on Punk, mixing some new wave and hardcore. The first representatives were R.E.M and Husker Du, both born in the early 1980s, and have struggled under the small independent labels for a long time before entering the mainstream.
In the 1980s, the risky followers of R.E.M and Husker Du could only afford a cramped spot in private radio stations. Their income is very limited, they have to regularly organize tours to make a living through the day and maximize the cost of album production, but they have treated them well in the 90s.

Alternative UK
Slightly different from the US, Alternative in the former continent lingers almost to pop and dance, so prevailing at the discotheque. Appearing almost simultaneously with the US wave, Alternative Britain has enough bases to boast of its independence.
The Smiths opened the way with the breakout of guitarist Johnny Marr and Morrissey’s ingenious and clever lyrics. Morrissey voice is also unusual: both luxury and “hammer”. He has a profound influence on the spiritual life although his work on The Smiths lasted only three years (1984-87).
In the second half of the 1980s, The Cure moved from Punk to Alternative with Robert Smith’s slow-moving, slow-paced rhythm. It’s up to the Joy Division, to switch to their own rock/ dance/ disco genre after the death of singer Ian Curtis with the new group name: New Order.
Music trend reviewers say that Alternative will be the transit step for returning to popular schools today: hard rock, funk, new wave. The turning point will follow a new, more spiraling.
